Mikaela and Naomi

Sisters

My Mom always told me, "God evens everything out in life."

Today I was watching Mikaela and Naomi play and so many thoughts went through my mind. Mikaela and her milestones - they took so long to get to. Then Naomi comes along and she just breezes through everything. Their pediatrician told me when Naomi was 4 months, she's the average 6 month old. They're now only 2 lbs apart, and Naomi is 2 inches shorter than Mikaela. My Irish Twins!

The first thought we had when we found out we were pregnant was, "This is going to be great for Mikaela! She'll have a best friend to grow up with!" Little did I know, Naomi would be a mentor to Mikaela. Mikaela was always laid back and did things on her own time, but now that she sees Naomi doing all these "new things", Mikaela has a greater determination in her eyes. Naomi loves to stand, babble, put everything in her mouth that she can get her hands on, and now I see Mikaela wanting to stand more, trying to get everything in her mouth, babbling away... Before Naomi was born Mikaela was saying a few words, like "Cheese", "Ok", "Happoned" but once we brought Naomi home, Mikaela regressed, which they say is normal with babies. Mikaela's babble turned into a constant humming whine, which could honestly make you wanna plug your ears at times. But Mikaela has started to open up again, Daddy and Mikaela lie on the couch together and babble away, and honestly it's the sweetest sound I have ever heard. We could listen to it all day... Naomi makes such a sweet sound too, my little hummingbird.

I believe God has a reason for everything. Mikaela is the way she is, because she has a purpose in this life. In little as 16 months she has touched so many lives. I believe Naomi was sent to us, not only to be part of our family, but to go through life hand in hand with Mikaela. Naomi loves Mikaela so much! You can just see it in her eyes! If Mommy is playing around with Mikaela, and Mikaela starts to whine, Naomi sits right up yelling at me in baby language!

We had family portraits done on Mother's Day and during the photo shoot, one of the lightings popped and made a loud noise. Mikaela got scared and started to cry, Naomi right away stuck out her lower lip and rubbed Mikaela's shoulder to comfort her.

It's so amazing, and such a blessing to watch these two little girls grow up together. What a gift!
